Seafile

Seafile gives your Arq a private file cloud: sync folders from your computer, back up from your phone, and reach everything from a browser — stored at home, shared only with the people you choose.

Seafile signs in with your Arq account. Install it from the Arq app store, open it, and choose Single Sign-On — no separate password to set up.

First-time setup

  1. Install Seafile from the app store on your Arq.
  2. Open Seafile from your Arq app list and sign in with Single Sign-On.
  3. Create a library for each thing you want to keep — for example Documents, Photos, Shared.

A library is Seafile's unit of syncing and sharing: each one syncs and is shared on its own, so split by how you'll use them rather than putting everything in one.

Sync from your computer

  1. Download the Seafile client from seafile.com for Windows, Mac, or Linux.
  2. Enter your Seafile address (open Seafile from your Arq app list and copy the address bar), then choose Single Sign-On when asked how to log in.
  3. Pick the libraries to sync and where to keep them on your computer.

Changes sync both ways: edit a file locally and it uploads; anyone you've shared the library with gets the update.

On your phone

The Seafile app for iOS and Android can browse your libraries, open files, and automatically back up your photos. Sign in the same way — server address, then Single Sign-On.

Share with your household

Invite people to your Arq first (from the Arq app), then in Seafile share a library with them: Share → Share to user. They sign in with their own Arq account and see just what you've shared.
